Beginners Golf Lessons
Where to Start,
The Golf Course or the Driving
Range?
In my experience, I believe it
is better to start at the driving range than at the golf
course. The reason being is that it can be pretty costly to
learn at the golf course, expect to spend more than $35 each
time you go. At that price you would be better off getting
private lessons by a professional.
The best thing would be to
start at the driving range, not just because the price is more
reasonable, but you can pace yourself. By that I mean you can
really take your time and focus on improving your skills,
without feeling rushed. Many times on the golf course you will
have better golfers behind you making you feel rushed, you will
never learn nothing like that.
Once you have spent time at
the driving range and you feel confident with your shot, then I
would recommend moving over to the golf course.
Get Beginners golf lessons via
a qualified professional near you or get some type of
instructional books or videos that can help you grasp the
basics.
Getting beginners golf lessons
from a qualified professional in your area would be a great
asset. One and one instruction would probably benefit you a lot
right now because he would be able to pin point your flaws and
help you correct what you are doing wrong. With a qualified
professional you are probably looking at spending $30-$40
dollars per hour session. It is pretty costly, but it will
probably be the best investment you make.
Other options you can turn to
is buying instructional books or videos to help get your game
going off the ground. I like this because there is a onetime
fee involved. Usually, you will spend $30-$50, but like I
mentioned, it is a onetime fee. The biggest mistake people
usually do is that they think their game is going to improve
simply by reading an instructional book or seeing an
instructional video. Bottom line is, if you do not put time
into getting better, expect to fail.
That is why going to a
professional can sometimes be better, simply because you will
have someone pushing and driving you to get better. If you
think you will procrastinate, then hiring a professional is
your best bet. On the other hand, if you are self driven, I
believe some type of instructional book or video can also be a
great asset to your success in this game.
Learn About Basic Rules
of Golf Etiquette
Golf etiquette implies to
rules and manners on the golf course. By doing this you are
showing respect and courtesy to other golfers around the
course. Great concentration is needed when trying to strike the
golf ball, whether you’re driving, hitting your approach,
chipping or putting. It would be rude to be laughing, yelling,
and distracting someone while they are trying to make a
shot.
There are different areas of
golf etiquette, here are some:
- You have general rules in
golf
- Golf etiquette while at
the tee
- Golf etiquette on the
Fairway
- Golf etiquette on the
Green
You don't have to learn every
rule of etiquette in the book, but make sure you learn the
basics before hitting the golf course. Remember, respect the
game!
Take Action and
Practice!
The most important piece of
advice I can give you, whether you decide to hire a
professional or buy a book/video, is to take action. You can
have all the resources in the world, but if you do not take any
action your golf game will remain in a stand still.
As you can see deciding to
take beginners golf lessons is more of a daunting choice than
you might have thought. I hope this article has helped you in
some way, feel free to come back and refer to it if you
like.
